Tuesday, September 6, 1988, will long be remembered by Pontiac firefighters, city officials and the community at large, as Tracy Karlton Williamson, Pontiac firefighter, risked and lost his life while battling a perilous fire in our community. His courage was evidenced by his confidence in himself… his only real challenge was life.
Firefighters are unique individuals, with exceptional dedication and commitment for the profession and community they serve. Each and every day poses unexpected danger. Steadfast and defiant, firefighters face unknown jeopardy with a unique determination… beyond comprehension to many, but not the firefighters. There are no illusions… they have seen it all.
Tracy was held in the highest regard by his fellow firefighters. He was a friend and admired by all those who came to know him. Tracy’s faith carried him to the very end… his life was indeed meaningful and we are proud he was a part of the Pontiac firefighters.
